LIVERPOOL WILL WIN LEAGUENEXT YEAR

Liverpool will win the Premier League title next year according to Dutchman Dirk Kuyt, a former Reds player.

Dirk Kuyt talked about Liverpool and the Premier League title in a chat with Stadium Astro alongside Arsenal legend Tony Adams. The ex-Dutch national team player believes that his former club will bounce back from a disappointing season in the Premier League. The Reds have not been able to defend the league title they won last season.

Ex-Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt also said that the Reds need a few signings to get back to the level of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title. According to him, Liverpool need to strengthen their team in defence and in midfield.

Liverpool have not only been unable to fight to retain the league title they won last season, the Merseyside giants are also facing a big battle to qualify for Champions League football in the new season. They are seven points off Chelsea in the final Champions League spot after a run of two successive draws.

The Reds started the weekend in sixth place and four points behind the Blues but they are now seven points adrift and in seventh place after their game against Manchester United was called off. The game at the home of the Red Devils was postponed after the Old Trafford pitch was invaded by protesting Manchester United fans.

Liverpool moved from sixth to seventh place on the league table after Tottenham Hotspur beat Sheffield United 4-0 at home on Sunday night. The result took Spurs one point clear of Liverpool with the outstanding game at Manchester United still to be decided.

Significantly, the Reds are now seven points off Chelsea in the final Champions League slot after the Blues edged relegation threatened Fulham in the West London Derby. German attacker Kai Havertz scored both goals either side of the interval in a 2-0 win over the Cottagers.

KUYT WANTS SALAH’S LIVERPOOL STAY

As the transfer window draws closer and closer by the day, Liverpool fans continue to bite their fingers over the future of one of their best and favorite stars, Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international winger’s future at Anfield remains up in the air and it has left the Kop faithful worried.

Over the last months, there have been several reports suggesting that the former AS Roma forward will not be having a long stay at Liverpool anymore and has also been linked with a couple of clubs in Europe, especially Real Madrid.

The Los Blancos are said to be in the market for a new winger following the several troubles Eden Hazard is facing at the club, putting his own future at the Santiago Bernabeu up in the air as well. The Salah to Real Madrid links have gotten to Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt, who has disclosed that he would love for the winger to remain at the club for the long-term.
Speaking in a recent virtual interview with talkSPORT, Kuyt said Salah is a player he admires a lot and that while the club should do everything they can to keep him, he should also do his bit and commit his future to the Reds.

Kuyt said Liverpool need to return to the pinnacle of success and to do that, they need players like Salah who have the ability to ‘make things happen’.

A lot of Liverpool fans have gone on to react to Kuyt’s statement and have all said they would all want their Egyptian star to remain at the club to give them more chance of winning some more silverware for a couple of more years.

Salah was recently questioned about his real Madrid links and whether he would be interested in a move to Spain ahead of the Reds and Madrid clashing in the Champions League next week, but the player was coy on his response and said he still has a contract at Liverpool.

KUYT MAKES BRUNO FERNANDES STATEMENT

Ex-Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt is sure that Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes is the best player in his position at the moment. Dutchman Dirk Kuyt talked up Bruno Fernandes as the best player in the number ten role in a recent interview monitored by Metro. According to Dirk Kuyt, Bruno Fernandes is the one blocking the path of Donny Van De Beek and a starting spot in the Manchester United XI on a regular basis. Dirk Kuyt has seen his compatriot struggle for starts in a Manchester United shirt in his first season at the club especially in the Premier League. Donny Van De Beek was the biggest signing for Manchester United last summer on the financial end after he signed for the Red Devils for a transfer fee reported to be around £38m. Donny Van De Beek joined Manchester United from Dutch team Ajax Amsterdam, where he had been a regular. He was part of the youthful Ajax team that stunned European football watchers by reaching the Champions League semi-finals during the 2018/19 campaign. Donny Van De Beek could have played in the Europa League last 32 second leg clash with Real Sociedad on Thursday but he missed the game due to injury. Manchester United played out a goalless draw at home to Real Sociedad to seal a 4-0 aggregate win over the Spaniards having won the first leg away from home 4-0 last week Thursday. Donny Van De Beek is a major doubt for the huge Premier League clash at Chelsea on Sunday evening as a result of the same injury.

Dirk Kuyt revealed during his aforementioned interview that Donny Van De Beek has been unlucky to find himself in competition with Bruno Fernandes, who’s an untouchable in the Manchester United team. Bruno Fernandes has become a key player for Manchester United in his one-year stay at the club following his big money move from Sporting Lisbon of Portugal last year January. Bruno Fernandes has scored over 20 goals for his team in all competitions this term, including 15 goals in the Premier League. Only Mohamed Salah has more goals than Bruno Fernandes in the Premier League this season.
