Dirk Kuyt Continues as Coach of the ADO Senior Team

Dirk Kuyt is known as an iconic Dutch forward from his playing days. He was associated with Liverpool closely before he retired in 2018. Of course, before he retired he had a brief spell in the Netherlands. Here he joined as assistant manager for Quick Boys which had been his boyhood club as well.

He started his career in 1998 with this club and played for 20 long years. During his active career, he made over 800 appearances in the field for five different clubs.

It also included two stints at Feyenoord.He had been a trophy winner for the clubs he played at. For instance, he won KNVB Cup when he was with Utrecht. He also won two trophies, the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Lig when he was with Fenerbache. His other achievements include FA Cup runner-up in the year 2012 as well as the Champions League runners-up title in 2007.

Dirk Kuyt Congratulates Gakpo on the Latest Move

Dirk Kuyt, the former Liverpool player congratulated Cody Gakpo after the Dutch international made his move from PSV Eindhoven to an English club in a record transfer for the Dutch club. Like Kuyt, Gakpo is going to wear the Number 18 jersey at Liverpool, too. He welcomes Cody Gakpo to the club. The number has brought about enough magic and he hopes it will bring the same type of magic, too. Kuyt also wished him good luck.

Other than Kuyt, Liverpool has many iconic players who had donned Number 18 in the past, such as John Arne Riise and Michael Owen.

Gakpo has been one of the most important players for the Dutch national team operating under Louis Van Gaal in its run to the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in Qatar. The young player scored three goals in the quadrennial event.

Dirk Kuyt Has Yet to See Success as a Club Manager

Dirk Kuyt came into the scene of international football in the year 2006 when he was signed on by Rafa Benitez. After that, he proved himself by scoring important goals in most of the big games his team participated in. He mainly played for Liverpool in his early days. He even scored a goal in 2007 in the finals of the Champions League. That is what catapulted him to cult player status.

He retired from football ten years later, in 2017. At that time he was a forward player with Feyenoord.

After that, he coached the under-19 of Feyenoord for some time. However, he held this role for a year after which he departed to take on the managerial experience. He was offered a managerial position with ADO Den Haag, a Dutch outfit. In May 2022 it was reported that he was keen to join the Netherlands team in a coaching role.

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt was on the money with the prediction of the outcome for the Champions League Group A clash between Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam. The former Liverpool attacker predicted an home win for the Merseyside team and he was correct after Cameroonian defender Joel Matip scored the winning goal with a minute left on the clock to lead Liverpool to a slim 2-1 victory at home to Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Dirk Kuyt predicted a win for Liverpool at the expense of Ajax and that was what happened thanks to the late goal from Matip though he had predicted an easy victory for Liverpool if the Anfield crowd played its part.

KUYT: FC UTRECHT CAREER IN SUMMARY

Kuyt began his professional football career at Quick Boys before he signed for FC Utrecht at the age of 18. The Dutchman established himself in the FC Utrecht first-team immediately after joining in 1998. He played as the central striker on some occasions, but his main position was on the wings. A big reason why Dirk Kuyt played as a winger was because Serbian player Igor Gluscevic was preferred to him as the central striker.

Kuyt continued to play as a winger until the 2002/03 season when FoekeBooy was appointed as the new manager at FC Utrecht. Booy changed his role to an attacking midfielder or second striker behind the central striker and he was rewarded with a lot of goals. Dirk Kuyt scored 20 goals in the Dutch Eredivisie.

DIRK KUYT: CLUB CAREER IN FOCUS

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt began his professional football career at FC Utrecht in 1998 and he didn't waste time in becoming an important player for the Dutch team. He spent five years with the FC Utrecht first-team winning the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Golden Shoe in his last season before making a €1m transfer to Feyenoord.

Dirk Kuyt signed for Feyenoord in 2003 and in two years, he was named the club skipper. The attacker was a prolific goalscorer at Feyenoord as he was the club's leading marksman in three straight seasons.

KUYT BAGS FIRST SENIOR MANAGERIAL JOB

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt has bagged his first senior managerial role after he was named the ADO Den Haag manager this week. His managerial appointment was confirmed by the Dutch club on Thursday. Dirk Kuyt takes up his maiden senior managerial job four years after he retired from football at boyhood team Quick Boys.

He went to Quick Boys shortly after helping Feyenoord win the Dutch Eredivisie title in 2017.
ADO Den Haag have previously been in the Dutch Eredivisie. At the moment, they are in the Dutch EersteDivisie which is the second tier of club football in the Netherlands.

KUYT DELIGHTED WITH VERSATILE MANE

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt has been impressed with how versatile Sadio Mane has been for Liverpool this season. The former Liverpool forward praised Mane on how he has been able to transform himself into a centre forward to accommodate Luis Diaz on the left side of the attack while speaking on the This Is Anfield YouTube channel.

Dirk Kuyt has been impressed with Mane who has been an important player in their quest to win the quadruple this season. According to Dirk Kuyt, Mane started on the right side of the Liverpool attack when he joined the club from fellow Premier League team Southampton several years ago before he moved to the left side of the attack following the signing of fellow African star Mohamed Salah from AS Roma in 2017.

LIVERPOOL: KUYT IS JEALOUS OF DIAZ

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has confessed that he's jealous of new signing Luis Diaz and that the Colombian international has made a big impression on him since his transfer from FC Porto during the winter transfer window.

Liverpool paid €45m in initial transfer fee plus a potential €15m to sign Diaz from Portuguese giants FC Porto and he has wasted no time in settling down as part of a three-man Liverpool attack for the big games alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
