KUYT CORRECT WITH LIVERPOOL-AJAX PREDICTION

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt was on the money with the prediction of the outcome for the Champions League Group A clash between Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam. The former Liverpool attacker predicted an home win for the Merseyside team and he was correct after Cameroonian defender Joel Matip scored the winning goal with a minute left on the clock to lead Liverpool to a slim 2-1 victory at home to Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Dirk Kuyt predicted a win for Liverpool at the expense of Ajax and that was what happened thanks to the late goal from Matip though he had predicted an easy victory for Liverpool if the Anfield crowd played its part.

Dirk Kuyt was correct with the outcome of the match, but he was wrong with the final result as he opted for 3-1 or 4-2. Kuyt went for a two-goal margin in favour of Liverpool as he felt that the Ajax players won't be able to handle the Anfield crowd if they cranked up the pressure on them.

Egyptian national team skipper Mohamed Salah has been missing out on the list of goalscorers for Liverpool in recent games. He was able to end his six-match goal drought with the opener for the Reds during the Champions League game with Ajax off the assist from Diogo Jota. Salah scored the first goal of the game on 17 minutes and within ten minutes, Ajax were level thanks to their African import, Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian made it two goals in two games with a fine finish thus ensuring that both Liverpool and Ajax scored a goal apiece at the end of the first 45 minutes. The game would be decided with a minute left to play courtesy the header from central defender Matip off the corner kick from Greek star Kostas Tsimikas.
Despite the win over Ajax, Liverpool are still in third spot on the Group A league table.
