Feyenoord Coach Expects Manchester City to Win Champions League

Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has claimed that Manchester City have all the capabilities to win the Champions League the season.

The team managed by Pep Guardiola finished without any major honour last season, and this led to the club spending a vast sum of money in improving the squad. More than £ 220 million worth of talent have come to the Etihad stadium over the summer, and Guardiola has released a number of players who did not perform well last season. The changes have already made a positive impact with City making a strong start to the season.

Feyenoord are one of the challenges for City in the Champions League group stages. The Dutch outfit come into the competition as one of the teams not expected to make a significant impact. As a result, van Bronckhorst will be expecting his team to at least reach the knockout stages and this will be a major success.

The club will be able to call upon the experience of Dirk Kuyt, who may have retired after a stellar career but he still has contacts with the club. After having played for Rangers and Arsenal, van Bronckhorst also has a lot of European experience. He has seen enough from City so far this season to suggest that they can win the Champions League this season.

"They have had a good start to the season, they are a big club with a good coach and great players. I have seen a couple of matches and they are one of the best teams in Europe. It is a big task for us but a big opportunity for us to get a result. If you have a squad like Man City have, players with a lot of qualities and experience - for me it is one of the teams that can win the actual Champions League,” said the Feyenoord coach.
