Feyenoord captain Kuyt Unhappy After Draw with Ajax

Feyenoord skipperDirk Kuyt says that he is left extremely disappointed with the 1-1 draw with rivals Ajax, as he felt that the home team deserved more than just one point from the game.

Even though Ajax had more opportunities in front of goal, it was Feyenoord who controlled the game at all areas of the pitch. After a goalless first half, KasperDolberg opened the scoring in the 55th minute. It was a major blow to the home team as they were hoping to extend their advantage at the top of the table. Just when it seemed that a recovery would not be possible, former Liverpool forward Kuyt came up with a late goal to get at least a point from the match.

His 85th minute goal, though, did not seem to provide much of a happiness to the forward himself. After having experienced Turkish and English football for several years, Kuyt returned to Feyenoord in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer. Despite being 36, he continues to be an important player for the club.

Even at his age, Kuyt manages to play the entire 90 minutes and the game against Ajax was a testament to this fact. The club will be hoping to recover from this disappointment when they take on Excelsior in the cup competitions on Wednesday night.

"We forgot to score several times and then you go down 0-1. That was quite a blow. The comeback is due to the character of the team, but for now to say that the draw feel satisfactory. No, not really," said the striker. Kuyt has never been a great goal scorer in the last decade, but he has already managed 5 goals in 13 appearances for Feyenoord. It would be a decent return for any striker and Kuyt can be happy with his record.
