Dirk Kuyt registered over 200 appearances for Liverpool

Dirk Kuyt registered over 200 appearances for Liverpool during the time when the Dutch footballer performed in Anfield. The campaign of Dirk Kuyt in the Premier League began on August of 2006 as he made his debut performance as a player of Liverpool during a league match against West Ham United.

It’s been over 5 years since Dirk Kuyt has performed for Liverpool as the Dutchman left the Premier League club and joined Fenerbahce which he hasn’t left but Liverpool still represents something special for Kuyt as the player recently stated just how overjoyed he was after having accepted an invitation that was given to him involving his former club.

The Liverpool FC Foundation has organized a charity match that will be played on March 29. Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are going to be the captains of each teams of this match and Kuyt admitted in saying that just going back to Liverpool is going to be very significant and special for him.

“To get the call was very exciting because I’ve never been back and it will be very special just to go back to Liverpool, to see the people, to go back to Melwood and say ‘hello’ to everyone.’’

“I know a lot has changed since I’ve been gone. There’s almost no-one left there anymore from the squad I played with. But when I got the phone call about the game, it was a bit emotional. To have the chance to go back one more time to Anfield, and to play with some of the team-mates who I played with during my six years, will be amazing.” Dirk Kuyt said as the Dutch player said that having the chance of returning to Anfield is great even though it’s only going to be for a charity match.

Luis Suarez, Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres are some of the other big name players that are going to be making their return to Anfield in the charity match as all of these performers have made a significant impact in the Premier League club during their time at Anfield.
