Dirk Kuyt Confident onf Reeds

Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt expects the Reds to progress into the last 16 of the Europa League at the expense of Manchester United. Liverpool managed a 2-0 win over United in the first leg at Anfield.

Now, they are preparing for the return leg at Old Trafford where United are expected to provide much better competition than in the first leg. It was a teammate and uninspiring performance from Louis van Gaal’s team in the first leg. They were unable to get back on the winning run after only a 1-1 draw with West Ham during the weekend.

Even though they have the Manchester derby only a few days after this game, Van Gaal is determined to provide maximum importance to the Europa League. This is especially need of the hour given that the club need to do something in order to pacify the supporters, who have become disgruntled with the latest round of results. Since the 1-0 win against Watford in the league, United are once again searching for a winning run. Prior to this poor run of form, the club had put together a four match winning run across all competitions. This run started with the game against Shrewsbury Town and United were able to win comfortably against Arsenal as well.

"It's an important game for Liverpool, and I always make sure I watch those. I'm very excited. It's 2-0 but it's a derby game so it will be special. It will be an interesting game, for sure.United will want to give everything in front of their home crowd, but I'm sure that Liverpool will reach the next stage,” said Kuyt. The former Liverpool striker also claimed that he is extremely excited about the club’s progression under Jurgen Klopp, who came as a replacement for Brendan Rodgers a few months ago.
