WIJNALDUM OPENS UP ON ‘TALK’ WITH KUYT OVER LIVERPOOL

Liverpool new signing Georgino Wijnaldum has opened up on talks he had with former Liverpool star player Dirk Kuyt.

The new signing revealed that he spoke with the former Holland international pending his move to join the Reds. The 25-year old player became the seventh player to join the team as Liverpool prepare for a showdown in the Premier League when the season begins next week.

Liverpool signed Wijnaldum for £25 million as coach Jurgen Klopp continues with his plans of rebuilding the squad. The present crop of players is one of the most competitive the Reds have in a long time. Klopp got Wijnaldum from the recently relegated Newcastle United side. The talented Dutch player scored 11 goals in 38 games in the Premier League in the last campaign after his move from the Eredivisie the previous year.

Wijnaldum used to play with Eredivisie champions PSV Eindoven before he moved to Newcastle to experience the English Premier League. His move was worth £11.4 million but the relegation of the Magpies to the English Championship helped him resolve to switch to Liverpool. The player said the talks he had with Dirk Kuyt during training camps with the Netherlands years ago piqued his interest in the club immediately they came calling.
In his pre match conference, the player said Dirk played a lot of games for the national team and mentioned Liverpool a lot. He said they only met each other a few years ago and that the great stoires Dirk told him about the club made him want the move.

“I was young and asking how the clubs was at that time. He told me a few great stories about the club but that was a few tears ago,” the player said. He admitted that they played a part in him considering the move. The club is set to play AC Milan in the International Champions Club and the player might be in action.
